Education

My life has revolved around education as a student, parent, teacher, coach, and principal.  I have three postsecondary degrees:

  • Bachelors in Mathematics from UT Knoxville
  • Masters of Education from Tusculum University
  • Ed.S in Leadership from Tennessee Tech University

My education and experience will equip me to fight for the true needs of teachers, students and parents. You have to experience the rigors of teaching in order to be a true advocate for education.

First Responders – Law Enforcement, Fire Fighters, EMS

I am passionate about supporting our first responders.  My father-in-law, Emary Bryant, was the Chief of Bradley County’s rescue squad for over 25 years. I am proud of his heritage as a leader in this field. As your next representative, I want to promote their safety by equipping them with tools that enhance their protection. They deserve our respect and honor for putting their lives on the line each and every day.  I am beyond honored that both the Cleveland Professional Fire Fighters Local 3748 and the Bradley County Fire-Rescue Association Local 4868 have endorsed me as the candidate who will best represent them in Nashville.

Taxes

I will never support a state income tax and promise to work hard to keep Tennessee as one of the lowest taxed states in America.

Fuel Tax: Are you concerned about the current prices of fuel? I am exploring options for citizens to meet their basic financial needs. One consideration would be to reduce the current state fuel tax for a limited period of time. Fuel taxes go directly to fund road projects. If Tennessee were to implement a fuel tax moratorium, we could utilize a portion of the forecasted $3.7 billion surplus in tax revenue for fiscal year 2022, to offset the loss of fuel tax revenue. https://www.sycamoreinstitutetn.org/2022-tax-revenue-tracker/

Sales Tax on Groceries:  So many families are struggling to purchase groceries due to record increases in food costs. The current legislature has given us a one month holiday from sales tax on groceries in August 2022.  I would like to contribute to this great idea by exploring options for additional tax free holidays to reduce your grocery bill. As mentioned above, the state is currently anticipated to have a surplus of $3.7 billion in collected tax revenue for fiscal year 2022 which should allow for additional or extended grocery tax holidays.

Pro-Life

One of the greatest decisions ever made by the Supreme Court was the recent overturning of Roe v. Wade. Unfortunately, we have lost a minimum of 63 million babies since 1973. I promise to advocate for the unborn child and will always support the right to life without hesitation.

Second Amendment Rights

I believe the Second Amendment is clear and concise in securing the right of law-abiding citizens to keep and bear arms. I will firmly stand in protecting the rights of Tennesseans, while also supporting stricter penalties on criminals and keeping our communities safe.
